This copy of
"Outpost in Space" being

hardcover edition, with
beautiful painted pictoral
covers, published by
Grosset and Dunlap in
North America. The book is
part of the second run of
the first eighteen titles,
which are the only ones of
the Tom Swift series
having blue spines and
back covers (changed after
that run to golden yellow,
so as not to confuse
buyers with the same cover
colors used for the Hardy

depicts a color scene from
the story on the linen
bound boards.
It may

back, but #19 on the
inside) in near fine
condition. The inside
of the book is
tight and the
pages inside are
clean. The cover is
extremely well
preserved for its age,
with with only slight
edgeware to the front
edges. It is marred
only slightly, as
someone used a black
marker to color
out a portion of
the top right hand
cover, probably to
mark out the original
price. The blue
colouring added to the
top book edges is
faded, typical of dye
fading for a book over
50 years old.
The spine retains its original colour, matching the back cover, and is also extremely well preserved, except for a little wear to the front spine fold, and slight edgewear spine top and bottom. The back cover is clean and bright. A good possibility for your collection, if you fancy the blue series of Tom's adventures or for a nostalgic read for the young at heart! Bookseller
